Honor our heroes by serving the community.

On Saturday, September 11, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., 1,000 people are needed to volunteer for the 9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance. United Way of Greater St. Louis, in collaboration with The Mission Continues and AmeriCorps, have organized projects throughout the community to pay tribute to the lives of our military, police, firefighters, and EMT heroes and officials. To find out about available projects and needs, please contact United Way at 314-539-4298 or by clicking HERE.

Volunteers age 13 and older will work in groups to clean and beautify the community through trash pick-up, gardening, letter writing/crafts and more within St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles, Bellville, East St. Louis, and Alton.

Last year, United States Congress passed a bill declaring that September 11 will forever be a day of service and remembrance. In response, United Way and more than a dozen collaborative entities are calling for thousands of people to volunteer their time and talents during the region’s 9/11 Week of Service and Remembrance – September 9 through September 16. This week of service aims to inspire and equip individuals throughout the region to identify projects within their communities, mobilize volunteers and resources and make a positive difference.
